”In fading light”

September 2nd

Tania Giannouli – piano
Andreas Polyzogopoulos – trumpet
Kyriakos Tapakis – oud

The Greek (film) composer and pianist Tania Giannouli (*1977) from Athens will perform, for the very first time in Romania, in an unusual orchestration: piano, trumpet and oud – a Byzantine-inspired, thoroughly occidental-oriental sound constellation that brings out the oscillations of the music’s temperature and temperament.
Andreas Polyzogopoulos (*1981), currently Greece’s leading jazz trumpeter, forms the link between Giannouli and oudist Kyriakos Tapakis (*1977), also known for his work with lyricist Sokratis Sinopoulos and bassist Dine Doneff (both ECM).

Compelling melodies with rolling momentum … like Manfred Eicher’s dream of a Mediterranean holiday. Downbeat

Giannouli is a unique voice, as a composer, pianist and improviser. She has many more musical stories that are waiting to be told. All About Jazz
